School Principal / Montessori Secondary School Headmaster
for the Freie Montessori Schule Berlin

The position is full-time with a start date of August 1st, 2017 or earlier.
The Freie Montessori Schule Berlin extends from Kindergarten to the Abitur diploma.  The school supports children and adolescents throughout their individual development, and allows them to reach their unique potential at all grade levels and in all subject areas.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a secondary school principal to lead grades 7-10 based on the pedagogy of Maria Montessori.  Additionally, he or she will participate in ongoing activities in a network of progressive and Montessori schools in Berlin, Germany and abroad to develop a new system in which students of grades 11-13 can earn their Abitur diploma.
The new principal of the secondary school will be a member of the school leadership team that includes the principal of the children’s house, the principal of the primary school, and the school administrator.  He or she will be responsible for leading and administering the secondary school as well as networking with other institutions both within Germany and internationally.

Enthusiasm and Experience

We are seeking an individual who views the work of leading the school as a personal calling, and who is strongly committed to the pedagogy of Maria Montessori. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic with a strong sense of personal responsibility.  He or she will have commensurate experience in the field of education.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record and leadership experience in secondary education and is qualified to teach in secondary schools. A national or international Montessori diploma and/or a Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies certification is strongly desired, as is an in-depth knowledge of the Erdkinderplan, Maria Montessori’s approach to working with adolescents. Otherwise the candidate should be willing to acquire these skills in a timely manner.
